The Young Singers Foundation is committed to enriching lives of young women by promoting educational and performance opportunities for vocal music within the barbershop style.
The Young Singers Foundation was created by Sweet Adelines International in 1992. Early on, the Foundation's Management Committee determined the purpose was to enrich the lives of young people through educational programs in vocal music by giving scholarships, grants to school-based music programs, and funding to after-school and community vocal music activities for young people.
The Young Singers Foundation is profoundly grateful for support received from donors and Sweet Adelines throughout the nation and around the world, and the Foundation is committed to maintaining and building on this spirit in the future. Beginning in 2015, the Young Singers Foundation took steps to align the mission of the Foundation with that of the parent organization, Sweet Adelines International. Guided by professional and legal counsel, the new Young Singers Foundation carries forward the spirit and enthusiasm for changing the lives of young women all over the world. This new iteration of the Young Singers Foundation will encourage and promote the barbershop art form through various projects that include grants to barbershop festivals, scholarships to young women who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in music education or music pedagogy, funding for the Young Women in Harmony program, funding to educational events and other new and exciting endeavors.
