Just like we are looking forward to the excitement of a new venue, the Education Department is excited to announce new education classes! In 2018, we are mixing it up and reinventing our classes to better serve you, our members and our directors. Here is a bit of a sneak preview of what’s to come:
Monday Classes (A.M.)
Because these classes are for YOU, we want the format to include you in the discussion as much as possible:

- MEET ME AT THE FRONT (Directors at Work)
9:00 - 10:15 am • America's Center CC Room 260
Taught by Tori Postma and Joan Boutilier. This session for directors will meet at the same time as the Members at Work session. The session leaders will guide roundtable discussions about the director’s role in aspects of the total chorus: new memberships, retention, vocal stamina, diversity and many other topics.

9:00 - 10:15 am • America's Center CC Room 267
Taught by Karen Breidert and Paula Davis. This session for chorus members will meet at the same time as the Directors at Work session. - MEET ME AT THE TOP (You, Me and Us)
10:30 am - noon • America's Center CC Room 260 & 267
Taught by Karen Beidert, Joan Boutilier, Paula Davis and Tori Postma. After the first two sessions conclude, everyone will join together in roundtable discussions to share what was discussed in each of the two early sessions and examine other topics that will lead us to the ultimate goal of joyful membership alongside joyful directors.

- SPEED PVIs
1:30 - 3:00 pm • America's Center CC Room 263
Taught by Darlene Rogers. In St. Louis, we will be offering a new and unique spin on the popular Personal Vocal Instruction that members crave. Instead of a constant rotation, this will be a drop-in class; stay as long as you’d like to observe and participate as much as you’d prefer.
- INTRODUCING THE ARRANGER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM - MUSIC ARRANGING EDUCATION FOR EVERYONE
3:15 - 4:30 pm • America's Center CC Room 264
Taught by Corinna Garriock. If you are a current arranger or someone who is interested in arranging music for barbershop, this is the place for you. There are big changes coming, starting with a new name — Arranger Certification Program (ACP). Members of the ACP task force will explain what’s happening with the program and how the changes will make you better for it.
Tuesday Class (A.M.)
- DIVERSITY CAFÉ
9 am – noon • America's Center CC Room 260
Taught by Thérèse Antonini. A highly interactive experience with broad topics of discussion. The objective of the workshop will be to provide participants with an environment where they can openly discuss items of concern, share their stories and experiences. Topics include: ‘Creating an inclusive environment within your group’ and ‘Applying an Abundance Thinking Approach to Diversity and Inclusivity’. Discussion outcomes will provide input to the ongoing diversity and inclusivity efforts of Sweet Adelines International. Registration information for this session coming soon.

- FRIDAY A.M. is the Quartet Education Class; this year it will be led by the 2017 International Champion Quartet, FRENZY. This class will be from 9 – 10:15 am in the Ferrara Theatre, located on the first floor of the Convention Complex at America’s Center
- SATURDAY A.M. is the Chorus Education Class; led this year by the 2018 International Champion, North Metro Chorus. This class will be from 9 – 10:30 am in the Ferrara Theatre, located on the first floor of the Convention Complex at America’s Center.
