Inspiring the next generation of barbershop singers ...

Sweet Adelines International is committed to connecting young women with the joy and passion of singing barbershop harmony.

Young Women in Harmony (YWIH) offers life-changing opportunities to youth and provides music educators with complimentary resources to include the study and performance of barbershop harmony in school music programs. These specific programs are unique and offer proven methodologies to engage youth and support the mission of Sweet Adelines International — to advance this musical art form through education. Young Women In Harmony is not only the avenue through which Girl Scouts have an opportunity to learn a cappella, barbershop harmony, but now these young ladies can also earn a coveted uniform patch! YWIH also seeks to empower all women age 25 and younger, exposing them to the world of barbershop music and providing the opportunity to develop the mastery of their singing technique.

Each year, the International Board of Directors (IBOD) allocates funds to support the Young Women in Harmony Program and its outreach to young singers and music educators worldwide. In addition, IBOD appoints the Young Women in Harmony Program Coordinators, an international committee comprised of three Sweet Adelines International volunteer members who partner with International Headquarters staff, as well as Regional YWIH Coordinators and Chapter YWIH Representatives to foster the program in communities across the globe.

Each geographical region of Sweet Adelines International has designated experienced member volunteers to assist you with coordinating a Young Women in Region Program in your area. To get started, simply contact your nearest Young Women in Harmony Coordinator or the Education Department at International Headquarters.
