BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - COVID-19 couldn’t silence “The Sound of Music” forever.

For the first time in more than a year, the River Rhapsody chapter of Sweet Adelines is singing again.

The pandemic brought their weekly rehearsals and performances to an abrupt halt in March 2020.

The group had not been together in person since March 2020, until Monday night.

The ladies were finally able to harmonize together, in person.

“I actually had a dream about it last night. That’s how exciting it is to see everybody again,” said Director Carol Kurtz.

The River Rhapsody chapter of Sweet Adelines has been a weekly highlight for Sandy Asheim for nearly a decade. The music got her here, but the friends have kept her coming back.

“The friendship. The harmony. I love singing,” said Asheim.

She’s missed both during the pandemic.

Pat Frohlich has been singing with this group for 22 years; the past year, it’s been over Zoom.

“We met through Zoom, which was better than nothing, but of course we were just singing in our own little office at home, not with the whole group,” Frohlich said.

But now, the whole group is reunited, and seeing each other again made this day, a good day.

River Rhapsody rehearses every Monday evening in the Wells Fargo building on Interstate Avenue.

They’re always looking for new members. If you’d like to learn more, find them on Facebook – just search River Rhapsody Chorus.

They hope to be performing again by Christmas.
