The Sweet Adelines International logo has a 70+-year history of symbolizing sisterhood, barbershop harmony, and the joy of singing all over the world. As an organization, we are passionate to protect this visual trademark and to safeguard the legalities of the logo in its use on products worldwide. The following elements provide the specifics of the logo use. Information contained herein should be considered a guide and not a comprehensive or exhaustive of the legal components of the trademark. Sweet Adelines International reserves the right to deny use of any or all trademarks.
Logo Use
- The “double treble clef” logo is the official corporate insignia of Sweet Adelines International. This is the exclusive insignia to be used to represent the organization.
- The name “Sweet Adelines International” and its insignia are registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
- Additional logos available for logo licensing consideration include the service mark and trademark “I am Sweet Adelines,” service mark and trademark for “Life on a High Note.” and the service mark and trademark “Young Women In Harmony.”
Want to design items?
When a chapter, quartet, region or area desires to use the name “Sweet Adelines International” or one of the official insignia on an item, permission must be requested from the Sweet Adelines International marketing department at International Headquarters.
To request permission, complete a logo licensing application and email to communications@sweetadelines.com. Your application must be approved before you proceed with having your items created.
Under the new policy, there are two separate licensing categories: internal use and fundraising use.
- The “internal use” licensing category is specifically for the promotion of Sweet Adelines International and includes the creation of materials such as travel wear, costumes, business cards, signage, table drapes, etc. These products are not to be sold on the group’s website, social media platforms, events and performances for profit or otherwise.
- The “fundraising use” licensing category applies to items being sold for profit. These products are allowed to be sold on the group’s website, social media platforms, events and performances.
All fully-executed licensing agreements will be listed on the Sweet Adelines International website for members to verify when they are purchasing authorized merchandise. This ensures that protecting our organization's registered service marks, trademarks and official insignia will be a collaborative effort for all members of Sweet Adelines International.
Internal Use Logo Licensing Agreement Requirements:
- A signed agreement is required for the use of the service mark and trademark Double Treble Clef logo, the name “Sweet Adelines International,” the service mark and trademark “I am Sweet Adelines,” the service mark and trademark of “Life on a High Note.” and the service mark and trademark of “Young Women In Harmony,” and/or any of the organization’s official insignia.
- An application is required along with artwork proofs of the items being created.
- No application fee is required.
- Items approved in the licensing application may not be sold.
- Use of the name and official insignia must comply with the Graphics Standards Manual.
- No assignment of the license may be made.
Fundraising Use Logo Licensing Agreement Requirements:
- A signed agreement is required for the use of the service mark and trademark Double Treble Clef logo, the name “Sweet Adelines International,” the service mark and trademark “I am Sweet Adelines,” the service mark and trademark of “Life on a High Note.” and the service mark and trademark of “Young Women In Harmony,” and/or any of the organization’s official insignia.
- A $50 USD application fee is required.
- License is valid for a period of three years and may be renewed without a new application fee.
- Items approved in the licensing application may be sold on the group’s website, social media platforms, events, and performances.
- No assignment of the license may be made.
Color Specifics
- For all official written communication, the official designated colors for the use of the double treble clef symbol on stationery and other corporate items are Pantone #3005 (blue) or black.
- For all written communication, the words "Sweet Adelines International" should appear in black.
- The symbol and type may be reversed to white for use on dark backgrounds.
- On chapter stationery, the logo will be in the official designated colors for the double treble clef symbol.
- Both the words and symbol may be printed in black on stationery.
- At no time should both the symbol and words be printed on stationery or other written communication in blue.
- When it is used on articles other than official printed material, the exact symbol must be used without modification of any kind and may appear in any solid color on any solid background. Sequins and metallic are considered solid when all one color.
Typeface Specifics
- The typeface for "Sweet Adelines" is Krinkes Décor. The typeface for "International" is Intro Black.
- When used in conjunction with the double treble clef insignia, the words should appear in these typefaces, stacked on two lines and centered under the insignia whenever possible.
- When the corporation's name "Sweet Adelines International" or "Sweet Adelines" is used without the double treble clef insignia and when logo artwork is not available, the default typeface Arial may be used.
Maintaining Integrity of Treble Clef
- The double treble clef symbol shall not be modified or integrated with another symbol.
- If a Sweet Adelines International member, quartet, chorus, region or area wishes to use on its stationery or other items the double treble clef symbol or logo, as well as its own quartet, chorus, regional or area symbol, the two insignia should be separated by sufficient space so they do not appear to be a composite symbol.
