Director Certification Program — now accessible through our new Learning Management System!

The Director Certification Program (DCP) is an educational, self-paced program, designed to provide opportunities to validate the skills and knowledge required to direct a Sweet Adelines chorus. And now it’s more convenient than ever to learn at your own pace and complete the required evaluations.

  • Anyone wishing to improve their musical knowledge and skills is eligible to participate in the DCP, whether you are a front-line director, co-director, associate/assistant director, section leader, choreography, or just a chorus member.
  • Non-member directors of an active or prospective Sweet Adelines chorus are also eligible to participate in the DCP.
The DCP is the first to launch this new way to access education from Sweet Adelines.

Below you will see how to enroll in the Director Certification Program, access the Modules on our LMS, and advance in the DCP.
Additionally — we invite you to view and explore the DCP "Introduction" Module from the actual LMS!

How to Enroll in the DCP:
  1. Submit the DCP Application Form, with the $125 USD non-refundable, non-transferrable application fee, to Sweet Adelines Education Department by mail or fax.
  2. Once your application is processed, you will receive a welcome letter that includes next steps for creating your LMS account.
  3. Purchase all DCP Modules within the LMS at $10-$15 USD per module, or for a whole set priced at $110 USD.
  4. Work through the DCP Modules at your own pace.
  5. Begin attending educational events and taking written evaluations of the DCP materials.
How to Access Modules in the LMS:
  • LMS access is required for anyone participating in the DCP. In the LMS you must purchase all of the modules at $10-$15 USD per module, or for a whole set priced at $110 USD.
  • In addition to the DCP modules within the LMS, you can still purchase a printed version of the DCP modules through Sweet Adelines International Sales Department.
  • If you have questions about the DCP or LMS, contact education@sweetadelines.com.
DCP Program Advancement

Once you complete the DCP to become a Certified Director and have directed a chorus for at least one year, you will be eligible for the following levels:

Harmony 500 Director (500+ points)          Master Director (600+ points)          Master 700 Director (700+ points)

  • Advancement within the program is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of evaluations for each skill area.
  • Once a participant has achieved the level of Certified Director, further advancement depends on the achievement of their chorus in regional or international competition.
  • You can purchase additional resources (like the Arranger's Guide, Judging Category Description Book, etc.) from Sweet Adelines International Sales.
  • The digital version of our Judging Category Description Book is available to Sweet Adelines members. You must log in as a member to view the digital version of the JCDB.
