When Notes Before You Go are released, you know it’s almost time for Convention – and they’re here!

To help you prepare for this exciting week of competition, harmony, education and fun at the 76th Annual International Convention and Competition, we’ve combined the need-to-know info to make your convention experience absolutely epic.

Name Badges, Registration, Seating, and Traffic Pattern

Your name badge will serve as your All Events Pass and must be worn for admission to all events: There will be no physical tickets. Name badges will not be mailed prior to the 2024 International Convention and Competition.

Already Registered? Individual registrants and the primary contact listed in the group registration can pick up Event Passes on site at Will Call. If your name badge is incorrect, corrections can be made at the Registration Desk.

Competing in a chorus? Pick up your Event Pass from your designated chorus representative.

Registration Desk, Will Call, and the HQ Desk are located in the Municipal Exhibition Hall (KCCC).

The scoop on seating: Harmony Classic (Tuesday, October 29) will be general seating for all, with no VIP seating. VIP seating will be honored from Wednesday, October 30 (Quartet Semifinals) through Saturday, November 2 (Chorus Finals). Those with VIP seating will have a section and seat noted on their name badges.

Traffic Pattern Rule: Please remember, no non-competitors are allowed on the competitor buses or in the traffic pattern. This includes coaches, friends and family. Thank you for your cooperation.

Where to be—and what to bring!

All competition sessions will be held in the Municipal Arena at the KCCC.

What to Bring to KC!
  • Layers of clothing for fluctuating temperatures (inside the KCCC and outside)
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Walking shoes
  • Sun screen and lip balm, though it may be chilly
  • Moisturizer
  • Re-wetting eye drops (due to location, may be windy)
  • Sunglasses (again for wind)
  • An all-season coat, gloves, a hat or beanie for chilly nights
Audience Reminders
  • The use of all photography, audio, video or movie recording equipment during any competition session is prohibited.
  • Live streaming is prohibited.
  • To ensure the safety and health of all convention attendees, the use of flashing and strobe lights is strictly prohibited.
  • Please turn off cell phones and wristwatch alarms so they will not sound while contestants are on stage.
  • Smoking, e-cigs and vaporizers are prohibited in convention and competition venues.
  • Please be aware no one may enter or exit the competition seating area while contestants are on stage.
  • Firearms and weapons are prohibited at all Sweet Adelines event locations.
Nursing Room at the KCCC

Sweet Adelines International has reserved a room for nursing mothers at the KCCC. The room is available Tuesday, October 29 through Saturday, November 2 and is located off of the 2500 lobby in 2518 A Office.

Harmony Bazaar

Location: Harmony Bazaar is located in the Municipal Auditorium Building (part of the KCCC) in the Lower Level, Exhibition Hall. This is one floor below the Municipal Arena where the competitions will be held.

Safety Tips
  • Do not walk alone, especially at night.
  • Take a taxi, Uber, or Lyft instead of walking down unfamiliar streets.
  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings. Plan your route before you leave.
  • Remove your name badge when leaving the hotel or the Kansas City Convention Center (KCCC).
  • Consider keeping your cash separate from your credit cards and ID. Leave all unnecessary credit cards at home.
  • Never leave your purse or valuables unattended.
  • Always lock cash, checks, credit cards, jewelry, electronics and other valuables in the hotel safe.

The airport is 20.1 Miles from The Kansas City Marriott Downtown which is close to the rest of the hotels being used for the 2024 Convention, and it is approx. 28 minutes driving time from all Sweet Adelines International Convention Hotels.

Airport Ground Transportation

For Taxicab service, call: 1.816.243.2345. Fares may be pro-rated (shared) when the originating passenger and all other passengers agree. Rates are $2.50 plus $2.10 per mile. Approximately $45 USD to convention hotels.

Kansas City International Airport has a number of transportation services, including app-based ride share services such as Iris, Lyft, Uber or zTrip. App-based share services are available through apps on your mobile device. Please wait until you have retrieved your bags and arrived at the Arrivals curb before booking an app-based ride. For pickup, please follow the signs down to the Arrivals commercial curb and look for purple signposts 2K-N. There are a limited number of spots available at the designated Ride Share curb so please wait until you see your vehicle pull into a spot to enter the vehicle.  

Please note that it is best to arrange the ride after you have collected all bags and are ready to exit the terminal.

City/Venue Parking and Directions

The Municipal Auditorium Plaza Parking Garage is located onsite at 201 West 13th Street, Kansas City, MO 64105. Entrances are located on Wyandotte Street and Central Street between 12th and 13th Street. This garage services the Convention Center facilities including the Municipal Arena, Music Hall, Grand Ballroom, Little Theatre, Conference Center and Bartle Hall. The parking garage connects the Convention Center facilities and the Marriott Hotel making walking between easy for guests. ATTENTION: 1210 Broadway surface lot is open to the public for events at a rate of $30 per vehicle. No reservations available — drive-up scan-to-pay or text-to-park sales only. Barney Allis Plaza and Garage is under construction. There are seven parking garage options listed on the Convention Center Alternative Parking map.
