Director Certification Program
The Director Certification Program (DCP) is an educational, self-paced program, designed to provide opportunities to validate the skills and knowledge required to direct a Sweet Adelines chorus.
Includes: Analytical Listening, Communication, Directing, Sweet Adelines Judging Categories and Competition, Management, Music Theory, Performance, Rehearsal Planning and Implementation, Teaching and Coaching, and Vocal Production.
DCP is intended for Sweet Adelines Directors, Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, Section Leaders, Choreographers, and anyone who wants to improve their musical knowledge and skills. Non-member directors of an active or prospective Sweet Adelines chorus are also eligible.

Apply for the Director Certification Program
To apply to the program:
1. Submit the DCP Application Form with the $100 USD non-refundable, non-transferable application fee, to Sweet Adelines International Headquarters by mail, email or fax.
2. Begin attending educational events for DCP participants and participate in evaluation sessions or take examinations when you are ready to do so.
3. Buy your DCP Modules with media tracks from Sweet Adelines International Sales.
Program Materials:
- $110 USD for complete book with media tracks
- $10 USD per module with media tracks
Program Advancement
Advancement within the program is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of evaluations for each skill area. Once a participant has achieved the level of Certified Director, further advancement depends on the achievement of their chorus in regional or international competition. Once you complete the DCP to become a Certified Director and have directed a chorus for at least one year, you will be eligible for the following levels:
- Harmony 500 Director (500+ points)
- Master Director (600+ points)
- Master 700 Director (700+ points)
